Year 5 - Opal

Opal Class

Class Teacher

 Mr. Carrington

Teaching Assistant

 Mrs. McMillan

We have a saying in Opal, the minimum expectation is maximum effort, which gives all children a clear ethos to work hard, be resilient and make mistakes, while learning from them. This fits perfectly with our whole school mission of 'Rise up... take courage and do it' (Ezra 10:4).

This half-term, our class novel is The Infinite Lives of Maise Day. This piece of literature is full of inference opportunities to further develop this fundamental reading domain. I highly recommend other books by Christopher Edge, such as The Longest Night of Charlie Noon.

Below you will see our class reading books used for this year's vehicle texts. We use these to develop a deeper understanding of how to best create effects and desired impacts on the readers of our writing.

This year, Opal has joined the Fantastic Book Awards (FBA), which is held across Lancashire. We will be reading the following books below for pleasure, voting for which we find to be the best.
